The registration, verification and retirement of C-sinks is managed in the password-protected Global C-Sink Tool and directly connected to the Global C-Sink Registry. In addition, the Global C-Sink Registry was designed to facilitate streamlined processes and ensure the highest data quality by offering direct API connections to dMRV providers.

Each C-sink unit undergoes rigorous independent verification by a third party to guarantee its credibility and reliability. Once verified, the C-sinks can be utilized for transfers and retirements, effectively mitigating the global warming impact of greenhouse gas emissions. The incorporation of blockchain technology within the Global C-Sink Registry offers automated recording of every transaction, ensuring transparent documentation of C-sinks throughout the lifetime of their climate cooling effect.

The C-sink units in the Global C-Sink Registry adhere strictly to the different Global C-Sink methodologies developed by the Ithaka Institute and Carbon Standards.
