Carbon Standards International at the World Bank Webinar

On March 6, 2025, we participated in the World Bank’s webinar, titled “Innovations for Unlocking Carbon Credits for Small Farmers – A Deep Dive into Biochar Systems”. The webinar explored biochar as a scalable carbon removal solution, with a special focus on its potential to support smallholder farmers and help them access the carbon credit market.

During the session, we presented our Global Artisan C-Sink standard, which provides an efficient and scalable framework for biochar carbon credits. This framework enables smallholder farmers to engage in the carbon credit market, creating positive environmental and economic impacts. We also highlighted the role of our C-Sink Managers, who facilitate certification and inspection processes, reducing costs while ensuring the scalability and credibility of biochar projects.

Key points discussed during our session included:

  • How the Global Artisan C-Sink standard supports the scaling of biochar carbon credits for smallholder farmers.
  • The role of digital solutions in improving the efficiency and accessibility of carbon credit certification.
  • Opportunities for collaboration in regions like India to scale up biochar projects and maximize their benefits.
We were joined by industry leaders such as Varaha, Google, Klimate, and Artemeter. Together, we explored the future of climate-smart agriculture, biochar, and carbon removal efforts. The discussions provided valuable insights into the role of biochar in building sustainable carbon markets and addressing the challenges of scaling these solutions globally.

We are proud to be part of the ongoing conversation around sustainable agriculture and climate action. At Carbon Standards International, we remain committed to helping smallholder farmers participate in the carbon credit market through our innovative standards and scalable solutions. We would like to thank The World Bank for organizing the webinar and fostering collaboration among industry leaders working towards a greener and more sustainable future.
